Installing softwareSoftware must be installed on your computer before it can be used. When software is installed, the files required for the software to operate are copied to the correct location(s) on your computer and the initial settings the software requires are configured. Most software today is very easy to install. Before you begin always check the CD, DVD or download you are installing using anti-virus software. Installing software on CD/DVDIf the software you want to install is on CD or DVD, simply insert it into your computer's CD/DVD drive. The installation process should start automatically and you can simply follow the prompts. If the install does not start automatically, access the contents of your CD drive (for example, through My Computer if you are using a Windows computer), and look for a file called Setup.exe or Install.exe (or similar). Open the file to start the installation. Installing downloaded softwareTo install software you have downloaded off the Internet, simply go to the folder to which you downloaded, and run the file.
