AusRegistry's .au domain licence agreement extended to 2014

26 February 2009

The company responsible for operating the Australian .au domain name space, .au Domain Administration Ltd (auDA), has announced that AusRegistry has had its license extended until 2014.

The extension means that AusRegistry will continue to act as registry operator and wholesale provider of all commercial and non-commercial .au domain names including .com.au; .net.au; .gov.au; and .edu.au during that period.

An independent Industry Competition Panel, established by auDA, made the decision.

The Panel also recommended that negotiations be undertaken with the registry operator to extend the registry license term by up to 4 years.

Under the renegotiated license agreement, the wholesale price of .com.au and .net.au domain names will decrease to $14 for a 2 year licence.
