News Corporation plans to charge for online content

News Corporation plans to charge readers who want to access its online content within the next 12 months.
The announcement was made today by News Corporation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rupert Murdoch.
Murdoch cited the expense of journalism in making the decision.
News Corporation today reported a full year adjusted operating income of $3.6 billion, a $1.7 billion decline from the record $5.3 billion of adjusted operating income reported a year ago, with current year revenues of $30 billion.
News Corporation is one of the world's largest media organisations, with services spanning a variety of areas including filmed entertainment, television, cable programming, magazines, newspapers and books.
