The announcement was made today by News Corporation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch cited the expense of journalism in making the decision. News Corporation today reported a full year adjusted operating income of $3.6 billion, a $1.7 billion decline from the record $5.3 billion of adjusted operating income reported a year ago, with current year revenues of $30 billion. News Corporation is one of the world's largest media organisations, with services spanning a variety of areas including filmed entertainment, television, cable programming, magazines, newspapers and books.
