Member Profile: R. Firfirey

R. Firfirey has been working in the software industry since 2005.

Q: Why did you decide to work in the software industry? What is your background working in the software industry?
I found that I could easily learn and use new techniques and languages. I also found it enjoyable. It started off as a hobby and then I progressed to running my own small shareware bespoke software company. Unfortunately due to lack of time/interest and support I decided to Stop the company. I now produce freeware games and applications as a hobby again.

Q: What work do you have you done in the software industry?
When I ran my software company I did the majority of the work myself, form marketing to design and programming.

Q: What advice would you give to people/businesses getting started in the software industry?
It is probably best to have a few members in the team based in real office environment. Planning and seeking professional help when necessary.

Q: What is/are some of the greatest challenges facing people/companies in the software industry today?
The hard thing is not producing an exceptional product but really how you promote/distribute it. Although the product itself is important if no-one knows about it then no one will buy it. Likewise if you spend hundrends/thousands promoting a product which is not that good then it will not go that far.
