Checklist of things to do for the new year

In the January 2008 Software Industry Professionals Members' Update Newsletter, we included some suggestions for preparing your software business for the new year.

We welcome to you contribute your own suggestions by posting them in this forum topic.

A list of the suggestions from the January 2008 Members' Update newsletter is included below:

• Renew your domain names and Web hosting contracts until at least the beginning of next year.
  
• Check the expiry dates of digital certificates, including those used on your website(s) as well as code signing certificates.
  
• Update copyright statements (if required) on your website, in your software, and newsletters.
  
• Review your business plan and make any changes that might be necessary.
  
• Plan your advertising campaigns for the year and organise media buying.
  
• Verify that all equipment servicing and safety checks are up-to-date, including electrical equipment and fire supression systems/extinguishers.
  
• Check if any staff contracts are due for renewal in the near future.
  
• Review the projects that you plan to undertake in the year ahead and ensure all preparations have been made (such as hiring more staff in advance if required).

* Email affiliates to keep them reminded about your software.
* Order new business cards if you need to because they take time to get printed.
* Spend time updating software you haven't worked on for a while so it does not go out of date.
